Schoenhofer created the Theory of Nursing as Caring website, which serves as a vibrant, interactive source of information about how the theory is lived in practices and research.

SUMMARY OF THE THEORY:

The Theory of nursing as Caring: A Model for Transforming Practice by Anne Boykin and Savina Shoenhofer. Their Theory is grounded in caring that led Boykin and Schoenhofer to conceptualize the focus of nursing as caring. Showing to the client the best care that they need. Boykin and Schoenhofer address six major assumptions that reflect a set of values to provide the basis for understanding and explicating the meaning of nursing. 1) PERSONS ARE CARING BY VIRTUE OF THEIR HUMANNESS means that our caring values is inborn to us human. 2) PERSONS ARE WHOLE AND COMPLETE IN THE MOMENT means that our physical, spiritual, and emotional aspects will joint together as one and the holistic level as well. 3) PERSONS LIVE CARING MOMENT TO MOMENT means our caring character is a gift and we will carry until death, and even a simple "how are you" to a person shows that we care for him/her. 4) PERSONHOOD IS LIVING LIFE GROUNDED IN CARING means upbringing the personhood. 5) PERSONHOOD IS ENHANCED THROUGH PARTICIPATING IN NURTURING RELATIONSHIPS WITH CARING OTHERS means showing our care to the other person and treat them as our love one or member of the family. 6) NURSING IS BOTH DISCIPLINE AND A  PROFESSION means it is our way in gaining knowledge. These six major assumptions is a basis in nurturing the client to be able to perform a systematic work in nursing profession.

ANALYSIS:

Anne Boykin and Savina O. Schoenhofer are both Doctor of Philosophy, at the same time a writers. There are several books authored by them about their Theory of Nursing as Caring. The Theory of Nursing as Caring explained that there is interaction between a nurse and those nursed. Knowing that a nurse should able to perform the different functions of nurturing a client in living and growing in caring. Caring is lived by each person moment to moment. To prevent sickness and other diseases alike. To maintain the discipline in engaging to human living and have a healthy living. Anne Boykin and Savina O. Schoenhofer, a Model for Transforming Practice through Nursing as Caring. Caring not only for ourselves but caring to a holistic level. Practice in caring first to ourselves is a first step where we can find a real caring to others and the best possible way to have a much better relationship. The nature of relationship is transformed through caring.

APPRECIATION OF THE THEORY:

The Theory of Nursing as Caring: A Model for Transforming Practice authored by Anne Boykin and Savina O. Schoenhofer tackle about the interaction of a nurse to the client as well as the relationship to the personhood. Their Theory has a big contribution to the nursing profession because the Theory stated about caring. We all know that a nurse itself will nourish to the client whether ill or well. The one will provide assistance and guidance until the client will fully recovered from illness. It is her/his duty and responsibility to ensure the good health and proper client's needs. The significance of Boykin and Schoenhofer's Theory to the other Theories is the closeness and it is related to our personal life. How we treat and give importance to a person showing our care to them especially if it is one of the member of the family. But the Theory tell us not only to our family we will show our care but to the personhood as well. Especially those who needs our service moment to moment in any status of life.
Being a nurse is not an easy job. It takes time to understand the situation and how to facilitate the needs of the client. How to perform directly and surely to be able to make a right process in every task, especially when you are in the field of actual demostration that you have to decide independently. To act like a professional one. Giving your confidence can help to a nurse to succeed and show that you are competent like other in the same profession. It is not easy but the feeling that you've helped the client to recover from illness is the best achievement that you received, and even a simple word of "Thank You" that can make you smile and a feeling of enjoyment. That's how a nurse give a full interaction between the client and the each member of a client's family and also the member of health team.
